December 1, 2017 - MTC Pday - Over half way there

P-days here are so nice. Throughout the rest of the week you are so busy. I love being so busy though because of how much I can learn new in a single day. Even though the days go by slow and the weeks go by fast, I'm still loving it! P-days are nice to step back for a minute and get a little break. Here in the MTC we have the option to go to the temple every P-day. My district has made it a goal to go every week because we won't have the opportunity much while out in the mission field. Other than that we just kind of do laundry, clean up around the residence, eat some snacks, and go exercise some. The food here is getting pretty bland. A lot of it is the same as the day before. It's still good just getting kind of old.
Each day, my morning study time is my favorite part of the day. I love how quiet it is in the buildings and you can learn so much because of that. Before I got out here I didn't take reading the scriptures super seriously but now I know what I've been missing out on. There is so much knowledge contained within the scriptures and I love it. Another part of our day is exercise time. Every day we get an hour to go and exercise. I've been playing volleyball the past couple of days and feel like I've gotten so much better (watch out Ashley I might be better by the time I get home). It's fun to meet with the other missionaries during that time and learn about their missions and where they are going.

Sundays in the MTC are amazing but also super busy. In the morning, we have a branch council to talk about how everyone is doing in the zone and other general stuff like that. We then go to priesthood and the sisters go to their class. The lessons are different than normal though because it’s not so much the missionaries learning the lesson but how we can teach the investigators the topics better if that makes sense. The lessons are always great though and the spirit

is so strong. We then go to district meeting and have another lesson. Then it's sacrament meeting. I love sacrament meeting because of how strong the spirit is and at anytime you can be called up to give a talk so you have to be prepared. I think that my favorite part about the buildings is the murals that they have inside. They are huge and give you so much to look at and think about.

We have choir practice on Sundays and I think the only reason I still go is because of the choir director. He has so many interesting stories to tell and I love how he relates all of the songs to doctrine. It's not just singing, you learn so much too. he was telling us how during conference Thomas S. Monson will be reading his talk on the screen things and then just
randomly he'll add in a story that wasn't in the talk and the teleprompter guy will Stat flying through the talk and the screen is just going crazy and then he'll realize that he just added in a story and then go back to where he was and wait. lol. and then Elvis presley had a book of Mormon and in Alma somewhere he wrote faith, I need more faith. just fun little things like that. We then have a devotional, and then go and watch a video of another talk by someone in the Quorum of the 12. These are always directed towards the missionaries and if you come with a question you learn so much.

Some of my favorite scriptures that I've found throughout the week are:
Alma 7:23-24
2 Corinthians 5:6-7
Alma 18
1 Nephi 13:36 and 42
Hope everything is going well for all of you! Love you all!

Other thoughts from Tyler in answer to my questions:

Being a zone leader is pretty easy just conducting some meetings and making sure everybody in the zone is doing well.

The welcoming missionaries are asked to do it. I wasn't this last week but maybe next week I will be!

I'm here for 4 weeks because of thanksgiving; they don't bring missionaries in on thanksgiving so they brought us in a week early. Kind of thankful for it though because I know I won't feel ready by the time I leave even though I’ve learned so much.

We have two investigators each week that aren't our teachers.  We see them 3 times each week and then we get new ones. And then our teacher’s investigators come just kind of whenever they want to.

My clothes still fit just fine. I don't think I've gained much weight.

Things I'm most glad that I have is the keyboard. They have a limited amount of computers and this makes it so nice. Other than that nothing really stands out. Oh and moleskin, super glad for that.
